The Albany State Golden Rams were swept by the Clark-Atlanta Panthers on Monday at the ASU East Campus.
In the women’s game, the Panthers won 62-61. The Panthers jumped out to a 20-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. But, the Golden Rams outscored the Panthers 18-6 in the 2nd quarter. At the half, the Golden Rams led 32-26.
The Panthers attacked the Golden Rams on the inside in the 3rd quarter and cut the Golden Rams lead to 1 point (47-46) entering the 4th quarter. The Panthers continued to attack the Golden Rams in the paint as they outscored them 16-14 to escape Albany with a 62-61 win.
Juanisha Black led the Golden Rams with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Brielle Johnson finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds while Kennedy Horton contributed with 11 points.
Reagan Jackson led the Panther with 17 points. Corianna Evans finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Maegan Barkley tallied 14 points for the Panthers.
In the men’s game, the Panthers beat the Golden Rams 82-73. The Golden Rams and Panthers exchanged leads throughout much of the first half and went into the locker room tied at 39 points.
In the 2nd half, the Panthers stormed out of the locker room and seized control of the game. The Panthers outscored the Golden Rams 43-34 in the final 20 minutes and defeated the Golden Rams 82-73.
The Golden Rams shot 51.7% from the field, 28.6% from the 3-point line and 47.4% from the free throw line.
Jordan Simpson led the Golden Rams with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Khalif Napoleon finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Shannon Smith led the Panthers with 23 points. Javonte Sterling scored 18 points off the bench. Justin Longstreet and Jalen Williams finished with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
